Car Insurance Mercury (Car Insurance). How do Commercial Pilots keep healthy?

How do Commercial Pilots keep healthy? Been wondering about this, since many pilots spend their time sitting in the cockpit. I read an article that said sitting was bad for your health. Are pilots able to stand up occasionally in the cockpit to take a break from sitting? How do they avoid blood clots and overall achieve good health? My goal is to become a pilot but minus the lower back pain. I've seen many elder pilots, they seem to be very healthy. How do they do it?

Actually, we are able to get up and stretch in the cockpit of the larger airplanes on the longer flights. While seated, normally one of us minds the controls and the other works the radios with his feet up. Many airlines have installed foot rests just below the instrument panel. We try to eat healthy, which is a challenge considering that the airports don't always have decent food choices readily available. In between flights we walk around the concourse and at night the hotels usually have a work out facility (which we call recess for Skipper.) We give him a blanket and he drinks his carton of milk and has a 20 minute nap. when your not in a cockpit and in a motel for the evening eat healthy and get on a treadmill and run 6 miles a day you will be healthy as a horse Not difficult stay healthy - by doing pullups on the wing of their aircraft and walking up the down-escalators like a stairmaster. they also run across the plane and run into the force of the jet to run in place Blood clots from sitting are not a risk unless you already have cardiovascular problems that might cause clots. The risks of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) receive a lot of press, but it's a very rare problem, almost unknown in people who are in good health.

Is there a difference between the $50-80 Cold Air Intake filters vs. the $150-300 ones? I drive a 1999 Toyota Camry all stock currently. I was looking to start working on it a little bit over the summer, and a Cold Air Intake Filter seemed like a good starter project that I could do with the speakers. How to get yellow bee poop stains from white cars?!? These things are driving me crazy! Every time i wash my car i have to spent so much time trying to scrub those things off my white car's surface, and even then, not all of it comes off, i'm only able to slightly clean them so they're not that noticeable. Does anyone out there know of any product that can dissolve them, or some home concoction that can get rid of them? Please, i'm desperate, it's a brand new car and these things look horrible! Mercury . Gears engaging without stepping on clutch?

Gears engaging without stepping on clutch? Hi All. I'm desperate for advice. Please help. I’ve installed a new clutch kit on my City Golf due to excessive wear on the previous disc. I’m certain I’ve installed everything correctly as it can only go in one way. Once installed, I started the car with the front wheels still in the air. I noticed that I could change into all 4 gears, including reverse, without stepping on the clutch. Actually the clutch cable was not even connected yet. The gears engaged smoothly into all gears without any grating noises. The front wheels are actually spinning while in the air. Can anybody please help me on this one as I don’t know what is happening or how it is even possible to engage the gears without a clutch or even some noise? Did I do anything wrong? All answers would be greatly appreciated. car insurance.

Concerns with buying a car that sat for several years? I found a 2005 hyundai with very, very low miles (12k). Turns out it probably sat in a garage somewhere from '06 (that's when it was last registered) until very recently. Looks and drives perfect, clean title/ carfax, etc. It is at a small dealer who picked it up at auction, otherwise they know almost nothing about it. I am concerned about the after-effects of it having sat all that time. What would you recommend doing before I buy? Take it to an independent mechanic, I know...what specifically should I have them check? car insurance.

Mercury . How Does the Weight of a Car Affect the Distance That it Travels

Several factors affect the distance that a car can travel: the engine's power, the size of the fuel tank, the aerodynamics of the vehicle and its weight. All other things being equal, the lighter a car is, the farther it will travel.
Engine Power
The force it takes for a car to reach a certain speed is governed by the equation F=MA, where force equals mass times acceleration. You can then look at acceleration as A=F/M.
The Weight Effect
Without changing anything about the engine, you can improve the acceleration by limiting the amount of mass. A car that weighs 2,000 lb. can be accelerated twice as quickly as a 4,000-lb. car with the same engine.
Acceleration vs. Distance
If a car can accelerate to a certain speed using less force, it requires less gas. This means that for the same tank of gas, a lighter car with travel farther.
Statistics
The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that for every 100 pounds of cargo taken out of a car, the fuel economy would increase by about 2 percent.
Calculating Distance
If a car got 30 miles per gallon and had a 10-gallon tank, you can calculate how removing 100 pounds would affect distance. Multiply the new fuel economy, 30.6, by 10 to get 306 miles, compared to 300 miles before the reduction.

Mercury . Jet Engines Vs. Car Engines

Typical car engines (internal combustion engines, or "ICE") and jet engines are commonly used power plants in their specialized fields. Both have their virtues and vices, and both have been used on land, air and sea vehicles.
History
Nikolaus Otto worked in conjunction with Daimler/Maybach to produce the first practical four-stroke car engine in 1876. The first jet-powered aircraft was the 1938 Heinkel He 178.
Function and Power
A car's internal combustion engine works by a series of controlled, intermittent fuel explosions that cause the drive shaft of the car to turn, thus making the wheels turn; jet engines work by a process of continuous fuel combustion and propulsion that propels the plane or other vehicle forward. Car engines are measured in horsepower, and jet engines are rated by pounds of thrust.
Weight
ICE engines are generally two to three times heavier than jet engines per unit of power produced.
Size
Because they do not require a valve-train or bulky rotating assembly, jet engines are much more compact that gasoline engines.
Economy
The only real drawback to jet engines is the fact that they produce very little torque per RPM (revolutions per minute) and must spin very fast in order to idle or cruise. This makes a jet engine less than half as fuel efficient as a gasoline engine of the equivalent horsepower.
Powerband
Gasoline engines accelerate very quickly and taper off with speed. Jet engines tend have low initial acceleration, but build massive power with velocity.

stabilizer bar and linkage. Springs Springs are the core of the suspension system. Various types of springs are used to absorb the bumps and keep your car at its proper trim height. These can be coil springs, leaf springs, torsion bars, or air springs (see Figure 11-7). Most cars use either coil or leaf springs; sport-utility vehicles use coil springs, torsion bars, or leaf springs. You'll find computer-controlled air springs on select luxury cars, such as Chrysler New Yorkers, Lincoln Continentals, and some Cadillacs. .Chapter 11: Steering and Suspension Systems Smooth the Way 107 Coil spring Leaf springs Figure 11-7: Coil springs, leaf springs,

torsion bars, and air Air spring Torsion bar springs. Leaf springs are usually made up of several relatively thin metal plates, called leaves, piled one on top of the other. The reason for using these layers instead of one thick metal bar is that, as a bar bends, the top of the bar has to stretch a little. Unlike a single, thick bar, which, if bent too far, would split from the top down, leaf springs are more flexible — each leaf bends independently, and the leaves can slide on one another instead of breaking (see Figure 11-8). Each end of a set of leaf springs is attached to the frame at the rear of the car with fittings that allow the springs to bend and move freely. These fittings usually have rubber bushings that allow the fittings to bend and twist freely; they also absorb some of the vibration and pre vent it from reaching the passenger compartment. See Chapter 16 for details on leaf springs and how to care for them.

Coil springs are typically used with strut-type suspensions, too. Figure 11-7 shows one type of coil spring; Figure 16-7 shows front and rear springs. You can find instructions for lubricating them in Chapter 16. At the front end, coil springs help cushion the bumps, vibrations, and steering movements. At the rear, they're suspended between control arms that have rubber bushings. v0 Torsion bars (refer to Figures 11-7 and 16-9) are used mainly in sport-utility vehicles and pre-1980 Chrysler products. They are located at the front of the vehicle, connected to the lower control arms. They twist to accommodate differences in the load that the car may be carrying, allowing the front wheels to move up and down freely. Think of torsion bars as coil springs that didn't get wound into a spiral. W Air springs are usually found on luxury vehicles. A rubber air spring can be filled with the right amount of compressed air to control the ride and maintain the proper height. With this type of system, a computer monitors the ride height and signals an onboard air compressor to pump more air into the air springs whenever weight is added to the vehicle. When the weight is removed, the computer turns on an exhaust solenoid to let air out of the air springs (refer to Figures 11-7 and 16-10). Usually, there's nothing to lubricate with air springs. But check with the dealer to find out whether it's okay to apply a rubber conditioner to the air bags to prevent them from wearing out prematurely. .Chapter 11: Steering and Suspension Systems Smooth the Way Shocks and struts Shock absorbers (see Figure 11-9) and MacPherson struts (see Figure 11-10) do most of the work of protecting the passenger compartment from bumps. One or the other is located near each wheel. The way they cut down on vertical movement is interesting. When a wheel hits a bump, it tends to keep bouncing up and down long after the bump has been left behind unless the movement is controlled. The bouncing effect is due to the inflated rubber tire on the wheel, and also to the fact that a coil spring that is either pulled or compressed doesn't just snap back into its former shape but keeps moving up and down for some time afterward. Shock absorbers and struts allow the springs to compress freely and to return or rebound slowly — like the door check on a storm door that opens quickly and easily but closes gently.
